In the book of Luke the fifteenth chapter there are a couple illustrations dealing with things being lost. One is the lost sheep, the lost coin and the lost son. Each one of these show how important and precious when the lost things are found, even so much that heaven rejoices over one lost sinner repenting over the ninety nine just. Now God is not saying that he does not care for the ninety-nine just, but they are already enjoying all the privileges and power associated with having everlasting life through Jesus' death on the cross and resurrection which we receive through faith by his grace. It is one of the main reasons the church is here is to constantly reach out to those who are lost and to treat that quest as the most important and valuable quest(calling) of ones this side of eternity life. It is also a reminder of the extreme measures that God was willing to go through to reach out and find us when we were lost because of sin.
